Correspondence with Senator Prescott S. Bush
This series contains correspondence between Senator Prescott S. Bush and John Rote, Chairman of the Privateers between 1957 and 1963. The Privateers were the United States field hockey team that competed, at home and abroad, with international teams, such as Bermuda, England, and Jamaica. The organization originated with the 1956 Olympic team and served to develop the sport worldwide. The Privateers hosted the International Field Hockey Festival each fall in Greenwich, Connecticut, and began to travel under the auspices of People-To-People Sports Committee, Inc. in 1959. Senator Bush served as honorary chairman of the Festival Reception Committee for several years and often presented the "Connecticut Cup" to the winning team.
