Statement by Press Secretary Fitzwater on the Cease-Fire Between the African National Congress and the Government of South Africa

We welcome the report of a cease-fire in South Africa. We are very encouraged and congratulate both parties for having made this important step forward. The United States has urged dialog for bringing an end to apartheid. We hope this step facilitates this process.
