Statement by Press Secretary Fitzwater on a Proposed Constitutional Amendment Prohibiting Flag Desecration

The White House is working with Members of Congress to develop appropriate language for a constitutional amendment on flag-burning. When these consultations are complete, we hope to join with Members of Congress in supporting a proposal that will receive swift consideration. The language will not be ready today.
