Celebrate July 4th with the Lions Club at the George H.W. Bush Center

COLLEGE STATION On July 4, the College Station Noon Lions Club will host the 59th annual I Love America Fourth of July Celebration at the George H.W. Bush Library Center at Texas A&M University. The celebration will feature food, childrens games and train rides, free admission to the Bush Library and Museum, a patriotic concert by the Brazos Valley Symphony and will culminate with a July 4th fireworks display.

The day begins at 9:30 a.m. when the Bush Library and Museum will open with free admission for everyone until 8:00 p.m. Inside the rotunda, the College Station Noon Lions Club will offer free vision screenings from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Food truck vendors will open at 12:00 p.m. Vendors selling food include Blakes Steaks, C&L Nuts, the Crafty Pig, Good Bull BBQ, Kona Ice, Krab Kingz, Marcos Pizza, and Sweet Pops.

At 5:00 p.m. the Lions Club will begin selling Coca-Cola products, Slovacek sausage, and offering free watermelon slices.

Two All Abroad Fun Trains will provide free train rides starting at 4:00 p.m. The Kids Zone, complete with games and bounce houses, will be open around 6:15 p.m. Both the train rides and the Kids Zone will close at 8:30 p.m.

Live music entertainment by the Great American Boxcar Chorus will start at 7:00 pm. The evening will culminate with a patriotic concert by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra at 8:30 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.

This years event is made possible through the generous support of key sponsors Commerce National Bank, along with help from the George and Barbara Bush Foundation and the City of College Station. Other donors include the City of Bryan; HEB; the Nina Astin Winkler Trust; and the Office of Public Partnership & Outreach in the Office of the Provost, Texas A&M University; Union Pacific; and Wells Fargo.

Free parking is available at Fan Field, the gravel parking lot on Research Parkway on the Texas A&M University campus. There will be no shuttles from West Campus Garage or Reed Arena. Barbara Bush Drive will close at 4:00 p.m.; all event attendees must enter through Discovery Drive or John Kimbrough Parkway. Handicapped parking is available in Lot 41.

Attendees are asked to enter via University Drive and Research Parkway, arrive early and bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets. Pets and glass containers are not permitted.
