This Issues Forum is in conjunction with an exhibit at the Bush Library and Museum, Grand Canyon Photographs: Celebrating the Centennial 1919-2019, photographed and curated by Mark Burns. Centered around the centennial anniversary of Grand Canyon National Park in 2019, the exhibit celebrates the visual image and the role it has played in the history and creation of our national parks. The photographs were taken between 2011 to 2018 and explore multiple genres of photography such as traditional black & white and color landscape, contemporary landscape and pictorialism.

"I wanted to explore a variety of photographic genres with this project," says Burns. "For me, It's not really about photographing what I'm seeing, but rather what I'm feeling. This is especially important when you're talking about something as vast and majestic as the Grand Canyon. This exhibit has plenty of traditional pieces, but there will also be some conceptual works as well."

Admission is free, but seating is limited, and reservations are encouraged. Please emailreservations.bush@nara.gov, or call 979-691-4014 to reserve seats. There is a reception to follow the event, where participants will be able to view the Grand Canyonexhibit.
