Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. FOIA 2014-1085-F contains materials from agencies and individuals involved with the Nunn-Lugar Act, also known as the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program, which falls within the Soviet Nuclear Threat Reduction Act of 1991. The act was authored by Senators Sam Nunn and Richard Lugar. The collection consists of correspondence, press releases, printed material, and reports, mainly from the Nunn-Lugar group of the National Security Council, chaired by Susan Koch. The records deal with issues related to the execution of the Nunn-Lugar act, such as executive branch clearance of proposed bills, delegation of responsibility under the act, agreements with Former Soviet Republics, and certifications of commitments of Former Soviet Republics. It should be noted that a significant number of the documents listed here are security classified and have been closed under the restrictions of the Freedom of Information Act. Read less
