During the Bush administration, Peru had issues of interest internationally: a presidential campaign; the downing of a U.S. C-130 aircraft; installation of new ambassadors to and from Peru 2001-0010-F 1 (Anthony C.E. Quainton and Roberto Guillermo MacLean); President Alberto Fujimori's U.S. visit; Fujimori's dissolution of the Peruvian constitution, Congress, and judiciary; as well as various meetings and programs to stimulate economic growth and eliminate the potential drug problems. Coversheets consist of White House Correspondence Tracking Worksheets, Referral Sheets, Situation Room routing Slips, Staffing Memos, Action Data Summary reports, NSC Profile Reports and Routing slips, Presidential Correspondence routing forms, and State Department Transmittal Forms, all of which direct correspondence and/or other documents. The memos direct correspondence, outline presidential activities, and discuss speeches, press releases and drafts of letters. The notes are written regarding various correspondences. Letters are written regarding public views of U.S. aid to Peru and foreign investment in Peru; congressional correspondence expressing concern of U.S. support in Peru; congressmen referring constituent letters on various issues; and introducing correspondence. The list is a funding source for the Peru anti-narcotics initiative. The speeches and drafts are of George Bush's statement at the departure of Peru's President Fujimori on September 17, 1991.
