Subject Files on Hospitals, Health Care and Institutions
This series contains message requests related in some way to the health care industry. The most common type of message in this subcategory is the anniversary message provided by the President or an Administration representative at the Department of Health and Human Services to representatives of health-care facilities or organizations. Generally, requests for messages for ground- breaking ceremonies of new medical facilities were declined, but dedications of such facilities were considered worthy of a message. Messages were also sent to conventions, conferences, symposia, and awards ceremonies related to health care. Volunteer groups and non-profit organizations working in the medical field generally received messages upon request. In some instances, the Bush Administration sent a more general proclamation instead of a personalized message in response to a request.
