This collection consists of 58 series of subject files based on 58 broad subject classifications developed by the Office of Records Management during the Kennedy Administration to facilitate the filing and retrieval of White House records. These records pertain to the functions and operations of the White House, Federal Government, foreign and other governments. These records also contain correspondence from private companies or individuals.

This series contains correspondence, memoranda, printed material, and forms related to Angola. The correspondence includes letters from members of Congress and the general public and the routine replies from the White House and other executive branch agencies regarding topics concerning Angola, such as recent political developments and violence, concern for U.S. policy towards Angola, freedom organizations and attempts 2011-1285-S 2 at peace settlement, and support for the appointment of Bill Chappel to monitor the election process in Angola. The memoranda consist of standard memos concerning draft correspondence, schedule proposals, and outline of approved presidential activity. Printed material consists of news articles regarding the political situation in Angola. Forms include correspondence tracking sheets, routing sheets, and transmittal forms.
