This collection consists of 58 series of subject files based on 58 broad subject classifications developed by the Office of Records Management during the Kennedy Administration to facilitate the filing and retrieval of White House records. These records pertain to the functions and operations of the White House, Federal Government, foreign and other governments. These records also contain correspondence from private companies or individuals.

Subject Files on Namibia
This series contains correspondence, statements, and a report related to Namibia. The correspondence includes letters from Reverend Herbert Chilstrom, Bishop of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, regarding concern for Namibia, support for UN action, and a summary of observations from the church in Namibia. Routine letters of reply from White House and Department of State staff members are included. Also included are congressional and public letters in appreciation of the appointment of Reverend Maurice Dawkins as a member of the presidential delegation to observe the Namibian elections. The statements consist of Secretary Baker's statement on Peace and Relief in Sudan, and a press statement issued by Council of Churches in Namibia. The report, by the International Freedom Council, is entitled “United Nations Council for Namibia: Violating the Impartiality Packageâ€.
