The Staff and Office Files contain records maintained by individual staff members and offices. The files of Douglas Paal of the National Security Council contain cables, papers, memos, and other documents concerning U.S. policy and background information on topics such as trade and human rights. There are also files in this series which contain information from meetings between U.S. and Chinese officials during the Carter administration. Other topics found in the staff and office files include Radio Free China, Peace Corps programs in China, non-proliferation, Japan, the USSR, and the Gulf Crisis.
