Selected Records on Presidential Transition

The materials in FOIA 2016-2628-F are a selective, not necessarily all inclusive, body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. FOIA 2016-2628-F contains George Bush Presidential Records relating to the transition of administrations after the 1988 and 1992 Presidential elections. The majority of the records concern the transition from Reagan to Bush in 1988, though there are a few records dealing with the 1992 Clinton transition. There are articles from many national newspapers concerning both the transition team and the potential administration officials being considered or nominated by the President-Elect. There are letters of recommendation and concern from public interest groups and Members of Congress to the President- Elect. There are memos and notes between members of the transition team and between the team and President-Elect Bush. Briefing books contain information about past transitions, useful government contact information, and basic ethics and employee rules and procedures. There are also number of hand written notes from meetings held concerning issues related to transition. Read less
