White House Office of Records Management (WHORM) Subject File categories contain correspondence (letters, cables, etc.) and memoranda of conversations between Vice President/ President Bush and Prime Minister Thatcher regarding topics of interest to the United States, Great Britain, and the NATO Allies including economic assistance to Eastern European nations through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; events regarding the Persian Gulf in the years leading up to and including Operation Desert Shield; world narcotics trafficking; the political atmosphere in Latin America (especially in Nicaragua); and various salutary greetings and invitations for Mrs. Thatcher to visit the U.S. for both formal and informal meetings.
