The materials in FOIA 2008-0064-F are a selective, not necessarily all inclusive, body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. FOIA 2008-0064-F contains tracking sheets, letters of correspondence, handwritten notes, biographical sketches, resumes, newspaper clippings, and a copy of the 1990 U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Commissioner's Handbook. The tracking sheets serve the purpose of routing letters of correspondence, biographical sketches, resumes, and newspaper clippings to appropriate White House Office staff 2008-0064-F 1 members. Many of the letters of correspondence are from a variety of public official and Interest Groups on behalf of Arthur Allen Fletcher and request the Bush Administration's consideration for Mr. Fletcher's appointment to United States Commission on Civil Rights. Other letters are direct correspondence from Mr. Fletcher and are related to his request to be appointed to the Commission on Civil Rights. Accompanying these letters are biographical sketches, which provide sufficient background information to the White House for full consideration of Mr. Fletcher to the commission. Also, resumes and newspaper clippings related to Mr. Arthur Fletcher are included to provide substantive information regarding his qualifications and abilities to successfully serve on the commission. Arthur Fletcher was indeed successfully appointed as chairman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and served from 1990-93. Mr. Fletcher died July 12, 2005. Read less
