President Bush visited Argentina on a trip to South America in 1990 and hosted President Menem for a State Visit to the United States in 1991. 2001-2588-F 1 The White House Office of Records Management (WHORM) Alphabetical Files contain a memo requesting a photograph. The White House Office of Records Management (WHORM) Subject File categories contain memos, photos, a book, routing and coversheets, notes, letters, a schedule, fact sheets, invitations, lists, printed material, press releases, a telegram, and presidential remarks. The memos route separate documents and make requests. The photographs are various pictures taken at the Menem State Dinner. The book is President Menem's Administration: The First Two Years, A View from the Private Sector, Argentina, November 1991. There are numerous routing and coversheets which direct correspondence and/or various schedules or draft speeches. The notes are varied in content, such as comments regarding photographs, George Bush's congratulations to President Menem on his inauguration, editorial comments on letters and speech drafts, introduction of individuals or correspondence, information on presidential gifts and appreciation for gifts and invitations. The letters address such issues as public opinions on Argentina and White House replies to same, introduction of individuals, requests for meetings, presidential gifts, and appreciation for invitation and gifts. The schedule is for George Bush's presidential trip to South America, December 2 - 8, 1990. Fact sheets consist of public information regarding Argentina, including a briefing paper on the Argentine economy. Invitations are to the state dinner and reception. The lists contain state dinner and presidential meetings participants. Printed material includes numerous newspaper articles regarding President Menem, while press releases discuss his arrival in Washington, D.C. and the state dinner. The telegram is a condolence for the San Francisco earthquake. The presidential remarks are for Presidential Menem's arrival ceremony and the state dinner toast. The Staff and Office Files consist of coversheets, routing slips, schedules, presidential remarks, memos, letters, notes, cables, lists, a menu, event task sheets, a vita, a press release, and a book. The numerous coversheets and routing slips direct various documents. The schedules are for the Menem state visit from November 13 - 16, 1991. The presidential remarks are for the Menem arrival ceremony and state dinner remarks, as well as George Bush's address to the Argentine Congress December 5, 1990. Memos route correspondence, draft presidential messages, and address other issues such as messages of concern for the President's health and presidential gifts. Letters request invitations to events and send words of appreciation for letters of condolence. Notes make requests, send introduction to individuals or correspondence, and discuss the state dinner and its logistics. The cables are George Bush's congratulations to President Menem on his inauguration and an invitation from President Menem to George Bush regarding the Sister Cities Worldwide Program. The lists contain the participants at meetings and state dinner guests. The state dinner menu, task sheets for various events, a vita for entertainer Joel Gray, and a press release regarding the Menem arrival are also included. The book is another original of that contained also in the White House Office of Records Management Subject Files. Quayle Vice Presidential Records responsive to this FOIA are from the Staff and Office Files and National Security Affairs and contain schedules, lists, notes, memos, and an invitation. The schedules are for a meeting with Presidents Bush and Menem. The records also include a participant and pronunciation list. The notes address scheduling of the Menem reception, as well as Vice President Quayle's invitation to the event, in addition to various greetings. The memos regard the Menem reception event and the invitation is for Vice President and Mrs. Quayle to attend the President Menem reception at the Argentine Embassy. Read less
