Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. 2005-0507-F 2 Following liberation from Japanese occupation by the Allies during World War II, the Federate States of Micronesia (FSM) - Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap - were administered, along with the Marshall Islands, the Northern Marianas, and Palau, by the United Nations under the auspices of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI). The FSM entered into a Compact of Free Association with the United States on November 3, 1986 and renewed that relationship in 2004. Read less
