FOIA 2019-0064-F contains materials from agencies and individuals including the United States Department of State, which includes the Agency for International Development (A.I.D.), the White House, and individual members of the public. Also included are materials from Mrs. Quayle's Office. Mrs. Quayle was chairman of A.I.D.'s International Disaster Advisory Committee and visited Bangladesh on May 21 - 23 to review the relief effort. The Bush Presidential White House Office of Records Management (WHORM) Alphabetical Files contain forms, letters, and reports. These materials were used in responding to letters from individuals concerned about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh stemming from the damage caused by an April 30, 1991 tropical cyclone. The Bush Presidential WHORM Subject File categories contain forms, memoranda, notes, and Presidential Determinations regarding the relief effort for Bangladesh. Operation Sea Angel, a joint task force of the U.S. Navy and Marines, was an integral part of this effort. The Bush Presidential Staff and Office Files contain articles, book excerpts, cables, forms, letters, memoranda, notes, reports, and talking points maintained by individual staff members and offices. The Counsel's Office Appointment Files and the Appointment Files of Katja Bullock in the Office of Personnel consist of forms, letters, and memos regarding the appointment of William B. Milam as Ambassador to Bangladesh. The Executive Clerk's files detail the extension of an agreement for cooperation between the U.S. and Bangladesh on peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Nancy Bearg Dyke's Subject Files have articles and memoranda regarding the USIA's press coverage during the disaster; cables, memoranda, and notes on details of Operation Sea Angel; situation reports from A.I.D.'s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA); memoranda regarding appreciation from Congress of the U.S. humanitarian response; talking points requesting Department of Defense assistance for the relief effort; a misfiled cable regarding an earthquake in Soviet territory; and a press release of condolence to Bangladesh. The Quayle Vice Presidential Staff and Office Files contain articles, briefing books, letters, lists, manifests, maps, memoranda, press releases, reports, schedules, and speeches. Mrs. Quayle's Office Foreign Trip Files consist of the briefing book, manifests, and schedules for Mrs. Quayle's visit to Bangladesh to review the relief efforts; correspondence regarding relief efforts; situation reports from A.I.D.'s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA); newspaper articles and press releases regarding Mrs. Quayle's visit; remarks by Lieutenant General Stackpole, Commander of Joint Task Force Sea Angel; thank you letters from Mrs. Quayle and her staff to individuals who assisted with the visit; lists of individuals assisting with the visit; memoranda containing reports of the visit; informational reports on Indonesia and the Philippines; and maps of Bangladesh.
