FOIA 2004-1443-F contains documents created by public entities, members of Congress, and White 2004-1443-F 2 House staff members, as well as printed materials, which relate to the discussion of proposed Senate Bill 12, Cable Television Consumer Protection Act. Congress attempted to act on legislation to re-regulate cable television rates as there was concern over rising prices charged by local cable companies. However, there was much public debate whether this action would in actuality raise costs for consumers, while at the same time reduce the quality of service. The Bush Administration opposed S. 12 due to its lack of emphasis on regulation rather than competition. President Bush vetoed the bill on October 3, 1992. Read less
