Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. 2001-1931-F 1 FOIA 2001-1931-F contains materials on correspondence from and to Shoshana S. Cardin, who served as Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Chairman of the National Conference on Soviet Jewry, and President of the Council of Jewish Federations. The FOIA collection contains constituent correspondence advocating U.S. support of Israel with regard to peace in the Middle East, the 1991 airlift of Ethiopian Jews, loan guarantees, and diplomatic relations between South Korea and Israel. There is also correspondence regarding U.S. policy toward the former Soviet Union and a visit by Cardin to the White House in 1989. Also included is correspondence regarding the General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations, to which Vice President Bush was invited to speak in 1985 and at which he did speak in 1986.
