Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. 2001-1949-F 2 FOIA request 2001-1949-F consists primarily of materials related to the United States policy on and support to the weapons inspections taking place in Iraq. Most materials are generated from the White House staff, such as members of the National Security Council; agencies, such as Department of State; governmental entities, such as U.S. Senators and Congressmen; and foreign entities and the United Nations. The events encompassed in this body of material generally take place from January 1991 through November 1992 and address the various U.N. resolutions having to do with disarmament of Iraq after the ceasefire of Desert Storm. During the Bush administration, the National Security Advisor was Brent Scowcroft, who was intricately involved with decision-making in this area. The National Security Advisor briefed the President on a daily basis and had relatively unlimited access to the President. He also traveled with President Bush on many domestic and all international trips. The National Security Advisor also worked closely with the Director of Central Intelligence, the Secretary of Defense, and with the Secretary of State to formulate and implement policy relating to national security issues. A substantial amount of materials related to this FOIA were classified and have been closed for national security purposes and referred to the originating agency for declassification.
