A portion of the records in this request are security classified and have been closed under the restrictions of the Freedom of Information Act. 2012-0157-F 2 The White House Office of Record Management (WHORM) Subject Files contain correspondence, memoranda, press release, and remarks. Correspondence consists of letters from the public and standard White House staff response letters concerning the repeal of the United Nations General Assembly resolution equating Zionism with racism. Also included is a letter from President Bush to Senator Rudy Boschwitz commending him for introducing the legislation, as well as draft reply letters from Bush containing a congratulatory message to President Herzog of Israel in appreciation of support in the vote to overturn the UN resolution. The memoranda include routine memos between White House staff members to the President and other staff members regarding the draft ceremonial pen letter for Senator Boschwitz and the draft message to President Herzog. Press release consists of a statement by the President on the signing of S.J. 246 joint resolution of Congress calling upon the United Nations to repeal its resolution which declared Zionism to be form of racism. Remarks consist of a copy of the testimony of John R. Bolton, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs, before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The Bush Presidential Staff and Office Files include cables, correspondence, memoranda, lists, press release, and printed material maintained by individual staff members and offices. Cables includes unclassified cables regarding an AP news story on the Zionism is racism resolution and a transcript of the statement by Ambassador Abram on racism at the 46 th session of the UN human rights commission. Correspondence consists of letters from Senator Moynihan to George Bush and Brent Scowcroft in support of a repeal of the UN Zionism is racism resolution, and a standard response letter from President Bush. Memoranda contains routine memos between White House staff members to the president and other staff members regarding the presidential signing statement on repealing UN Resolution on Zionism is Racism and legislative referral memo on S.J. 246 joint resolution of Congress calling for the UN to repeal the Zionism resolution. Lists include multiple copies of the final vote of the United Nation on the repeal. Press release contains a statement by press secretary Fitzwater on the revocation of the resolution, as well as remarks by Secretary Eagleburger on U.S. co-sponsorship of the repeal. Printed material consists of a Bureau of Public Affairs Current Policy publication with the statement by John R. Bolton before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Washington Weekly Report publication with a review of the UN repeal, and an editorial on President Bush and the overturn of the resolution. The Bush Vice Presidential WHORM Subject Files contain standard White House correspondence tracking forms, letters from the president of the Zionist Organization of American inviting President Bush to join a national committee of notables to rescind the United Nations resolution against Zionism, and draft response letters from President Bush stating the Administration's opposition to the UN Resolution. Also included is a handwritten note from Bush asking that the next address to Jewish audience on human rights to call for the UN to repeal the Resolution equating Racism with Zionism, as well as a draft arrival statement by President Reagan on President Chaim Herzog's visit. The Quayle Vice Presidential Staff and Office File contains draft letters containing a congratulatory message from President Bush thanking India for its support in repealing the United Nations Resolution and a standard memo from Scowcroft recommending Bush sign the attached letter to the Prime Minister of India.
