The materials in FOIA 2004-0734-F are a selective, not necessarily all inclusive, body of documents responsive to the topic of Brazil. Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. FOIA 2004-0734-F contains materials relating to the South American country of Brazil. The Presidential Records include White House Office of Records Management (WHORM) Alpha and Subject files, as well as Staff and Office files from various offices of the administration. The WHORM Alpha files contain letters from individuals, mostly concerning visas and other various immigration issues. The WHORM subject files contain letters, memoranda, from the general public, Congress, and the Bush administration and notes covering a wide range of topics. Among these are letters to the President expressing opinions and concerns about the United Nation's Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro (UNCED), Brazilian debt, and export issues. There are letters between President Bush and Brazilian Presidents Jose Sarney and Fernando Collor on international issues such as Panama and Iraq. Memoranda within the administration cover issues such as the UNCED, nuclear proliferation, regional issues, export and intellectual protection, and general environmental issues. The Staff and Office files include information relating to trips to Brazil by President Bush in 1990 and 1992 and a state visit by President Collor in 1991. Briefing books and schedules provide information on these trips taken by President Bush to Brazil as well as President Collor to the United States. The Social Office files contain information on the state dinner for President and Mrs. Collor. In the files from the NSC, though the majority of these documents remain closed, there are several documents concerning nuclear proliferation, Treaty of Tlatelolco, and the Conference on Environment and Development which was held in Rio de Janeiro June 1992.
