FOIA 2016-2614-F contains materials from agencies and individuals including the United States Information Agency (USIA); the Department of Justice, the White House, the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives, Chinese-American Leaders. The Staff and Office Files contain correspondence, memoranda, and publications maintained by individual staff members and offices. Throughout the staff files are newspaper articles and editorials evaluating President Bush's China policy. There are also copies of letters from prominent members of the Chinese- American community and US Congressmen expressing views on the veto of H.R. 2712 and the Bush Administration's policy toward China in the days after Tiananmen Square. Memos and notes between agency officials and White House staff offer comparisons of the Pelosi Bill (H.R. 2712) and the President's executive action, meetings with Chinese leaders and students, and talking points for conversations with Senators whose votes were needed to sustain the veto.
