The materials in FOIA 2011-2570-F are a selective, not necessarily all inclusive, body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. Researchers should consult the archivist about related materials. FOIA 2011-2570-F contains materials regarding Richard G. Darman, Director of the Office of Management and Budget during the George H. W. Bush Administration. Darman also served during the Reagan Administration, first as Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff from 1985 to 1987, then as 2011-2570-F 2 Deputy Secretary of the Treasury from 1987 to 1988. He resigned from Treasury to take a position at the investment banking firm Shearson Lehman Brothers before being recalled to government service by President-elect Bush. The Staff and Office Files contain memoranda transmitting documents, explaining financial records and conflict-of-interest waivers, detailing regulatory reform initiatives, and regarding the nomination process. Additionally, there are press releases announcing nominations, fax cover sheets, and notes from an interview with Mr. Darman about his employment history. Letters and correspondence highlight employment arrangements for appointed officials and OMB and budgetary concerns. Moreover, papers report on the line-item veto issue and on Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) target levels. Also included are speeches given by Director Darman to public groups or Congressional committees, newspaper and magazine articles regarding Director Darman and Bush Administration economic policy, and transcripts of appearances by Director Darman on television news programs.
