In a busy day at the White House, President Bush met with his senior national security and defense advisors about ongoing hostilities in the Persian Gulf. He also briefed members of Congress, including House Speaker Thomas Foley of Washington. Later in the day, he met with the former Prime Minister of Singapore. Throughout the day, the President made numerous telephone calls to world leaders, including the Prime Ministers of Spain, Italy, and Turkey.
