The President received his national security and intelligence briefings and then met with senior advisors including Frederick D. McClure and Andrew H. Card, Jr. Following a briefing on science and techology issues, the President met with senior national security and military advisors to discuss Operation Desert Storm. James A. Baker, III, Brent Scowcroft, Richard N. Haass, Mike McConnell, and David E. Jeremiah were among the meetings participants. Following lunch, the President met with a delegation from Argentina and held another meeting about Operation Desert Storm. Late in the afternoon, he spoke by telephone with President Carlos Saul Menem of Argentina and Javier Perez de Cuellar, Secretary General of the United Nations.
